About Two Minute Drill Game

Two Minute Drill Game helps football fans learn the tradeoffs behind late-game play calling. Every scenario, team, play result, and explanation is written for this site.

What this practice is for

The goal is to make clock-management decisions understandable. Each drill asks you to balance the score, time, down, distance, field position, and remaining timeouts. After every choice, the game shows what changed and why the decision helped or hurt.

How the scenarios are made

Every scenario follows a hand-authored decision path. A choice leads to a fixed next state rather than a random simulation, so the same choice in the same situation always produces the same result. That makes the explanation reproducible and keeps the lesson focused.

We do not import real play-by-play data, player ratings, team marks, or proprietary game logic. The game is an educational decision exercise, not a prediction of how a real play, coach, team, or kicker would perform.

What the first version leaves out

The practice does not simulate penalties, overtime, kickoffs, onside kicks, two-point attempts, live opponents, or real-time play clocks. Touchdowns count as seven points, field goals count as three, and the outcome of each kick is written into its scenario.
